Science, Mathematics and Research for Transformation (SMART) Program
The SMART program: Science, mathematics, and engineering (SME), are vital disciplines to our national defense. To increase the supply of scientists, mathematicians, and engineers, the Department of Defense (DoD) established the Science, Mathematics and Research for Transformation (SMART) Education Program. The purpose is to promote the education, recruitment and retention of outstanding undergraduate and graduate students in SME studies. DoD offers scholarships and fellowships to individuals who have demonstrated the ability and special aptitude for training and education in SME.
